GAMIAN-Europe (World Mental Health Day)

LAVA member Lora-Elly Vannieuwenhuysen was one of this year's four winners of the GAMIAN art competition.

On Tuesday, 10th October 2023, she had the opportunity to showcase her work at the mini-exhibition on mental health during the World Mental Health Day conference in Brussels. Her winning piece, "Behind the Mask", confronts the viewer with the impact of masking on the well-being of autistic individuals. In this way, she hopes to foster a greater understanding of autistic needs and to shed light on autistic communication.

This work is part of a series of twenty drawings centred around the theme of neurodiversity.
